The Utrechtse Culturele Stichting Aikido is a dojo that practices traditional Aikikai Aikido in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
The UCSA exists solely to further the practice of
Aikido in utrecht and is run on a completely voluntary and cooperative
basis. None of our instructors are paid teaching fees and the club
makes every effort to keep membership and practice fees to the minimum
commensurate with being able to run the club on a sound footing.
In addition to our local teachers, the students of the UCSA recieve lessons from teachers of 4th dan grade from The Hague every month. Through our connection to the
Cultural Aikido Bond of the Netherlands, students recieve tutition
three times a year from Fujita sensei, 8th dan and japanese hombu dojo shihan!
Aikido is an intricate and intriguing, yet
effective martial art, the name literally translating as the "Way of
Harmony." It was founded by Morihei Ueshiba, one of the most
inspirational and legendary figures in the long history of the martial
arts and has the resolution of conflict rather than the destruction of
an opponent as its objective. The techniques derive from a variety of
traditional Japanese martial arts (Koryu) and rely on the deflection of
force, rather than direct opposition. This makes Aikido suitable for
both sexes without distinction as to size or strength, the training
promoting subtle technique, aerobic fitness, flexibility and
co-ordination.
Beginners or experienced adults, men and women are
welcome. If you feel you would like to commence practice, please speak
with the instructor after the class or contact the club.
Please note, practice can be vigorous! So it is wise that you discuss
any potential health concerns with the instructor and/or your own
doctor prior to starting Aikido training. |
